Ducky's Winter Shindig, III
Jan. 24th, 2011 12:42 amSunny, 23-27°F. I ran my geocaching stats and noticed a while ago that January 23 is the only day of the year on which I'd not found a single geocache. That means in every year from 2002 to 2010, there must have been either a blizzard or work on January 23. I was determined to fill in that hole and I did that today by attending "Ducky's Winter Shindig, III" at Giuseppe's in Warminster. It's a good mid-winter event. The turnout was 103 people. We filled up the party room at the restaurant and spilled over into the next room. I had the Godfather Sandwich. (It's a sandwich you can't refuse. :) )
After the event, I did a few geocaches in the Warminster area and then headed over to Conshohocken for a few more geocaches. "Smart Phone Reverse Geocache" is an interesting puzzle cache. It uses geolocation and only tells you how far away you are from the cache site, so you have to keep refreshing the page on a smart phone. I don't have a smart phone but I figured it out at home by editing the URL until I got zero distance. Then it was pretty straightforward when I got to the area this afternoon.
