Started the day with breakfast at the con suite, which I was surprised was still open. Then packed up and brought everything down to the car. I think we ([livejournal.com profile] jbadger and I) nailed the logistic problem of moving stuff out of the room this time. We shared a hotel luggage cart, got everything down in one trip, and took turns getting our cars to the hotel front door to load up. After that, we joined a group of fellow FAU attendees at the Sage Diner down the road. Since I just had breakfast at the con suite, I only ordered nachos. Which, of course, turned out to not be a light snack.

After that, [livejournal.com profile] jbadger and I went geocaching. He had to travel back to Long Island, so we split up after about an hour or so and I continued geocaching in a southwesterly direction in Cherry Hill, Haddon Heights, Westville, and Paulsboro. The most interesting cache of the day was "One Cool Cache". It's a large cooler. The cache description claims that it is the largest cache in Gloucester County and I'll give them that, although I have seen bigger caches. Its size certainly made it easy to find and I was glad of that because it took some work to make my way through the dense woods and daylight was rapidly fading at the time.

The caches... )

Started the day with breakfast in the con suite. Then I returned to the registration room to pick up the charity raffle items I donated that weren't used because they didn't hold a charity raffle after all. I'll re-donate those to Anthrocon's charity raffle next month. It looked like a day with nothing on interest in the programming schedule but there was a last-minute addition of a second round of fursuit games. So I put on the raccoon fursuit and went down to the games. It was the same games as the first fursuit games but with more participants. After that, I stayed on for Dancing 101. Always fun to learn a few dance steps that I'll never use. :)

After that I went geocaching with [livejournal.com profile] jbadger. We did Izzy Working?, Dizz-Knee Challenge: Cachee Poppins PXII, and Lone Tree. Picked up Chinese takeout on the way back.

Waited for the Dead Dog Party after that but it never really got started and the DJ left early. Got into fursuit (husky) anyway and went party-hopping. Checked out that fetish party again but left because it looked like they were going to have sex and I figured that the hotel would have an issue with the stripper pole. (It leaves marks on the ceiling.) Just hung out in the con suite the rest of the night.

Today started out pretty low-key. Had breakfast at a diner in Cherry Hill. Returned to the hotel and hung out a bit in con space. Then changed into the raccoon fursuit and wandered around the hotel for a while before the fursuit parade. Got some interesting reactions from hotel guests who were there for the water park. Probably the funniest one was where the kid wanted a photo of the raccoon but the father was a bit creeped out by all the fursuits in the lobby. Finally, it was time for the parade. This was a very short parade on the ballroom level, followed by a photoshoot in the parking lot.

Took a rest in the con suite after that. For dinner, [livejournal.com profile] jbadger, [livejournal.com profile] tjcoyote, [livejournal.com profile] freakylynx, and I went to Bertucci's, which is less than a mile away as the crow flies but significantly longer by road. I had a Quattro Stagioni, which is like 4 pizza selections in one. Each quarter has a different topping.

Hung out in the con suite after that to talk to a few Twitter friends before deciding to do more fursuiting. This time I wore the husky fursuit. Went down to the dance at the ballroom level. Also visited one of the room parties at random. It looked like a fetish party. The host was in a straitjacket and tied to a stripper pole, but aside from that, it was fairly innocuous. Of course, the way he was, he couldn't object to fursuit hugs. :) Finally called it a night when they closed the headless lounge. (green room for fursuiters)

Tried to wake up a bit earlier today so I could get a geocache on the way to the hotel but it ended up being not that early. Still did find Knight Rider in Paulsboro on the way to the Marriott in Mount Laurel. Good thing FA United is only about 40 minutes from home! I was surprised the hotel let me check in before noon. Got room 714 and started moving my luggage and fursuit tubs up to the room. Chatted with [livejournal.com profile] balloonpup while doing so. Didn't actually see very many people around yet. I guess most of the con attendees didn't get here on Thursday. Also picked up my badge and program in the registration room. Yes, they did have bacon! That's amazing.

Then I put on the raccoon fursuit. Took a walk around the con space (doing photos and hugs) and went back up to the room again because I got a message about the charity raffle. Brought the two plush toys I wanted to donate down to the reg room. Then I went back to the room and put on the husky fursuit for the fursuit games. I figure this fursuit has been battle-tested. The games were as follows: popping balloons, limbo, musical chairs, and sweeping up ping-pong balls. After that last game, they let us all keep the little brush and dustpan set. Well, hey, I can use it at home. :)

After that, I had enough of fursuiting so I decided to go get a late lunch. Of course, in the process of looking for food, I visited 3 geocaches: Bowling Memories - Laurel, I Saw The Sign, and The Baron's Cache.

Went back to the hotel after that and hung around for the opening ceremony. After that, I met up with roommates [livejournal.com profile] jbadger and [livejournal.com profile] falconeio. Went out for dinner with [livejournal.com profile] jbadger and revisited 2 of the 3 geocaches so he could log those. Visited the Con Suite later in the evening and stayed there until it closed at midnight, and that's pretty much it for Day 1.
