Cloudy, 32-36°F. It was a cold and windy day but I thought I'd go for a quick afternoon geocache run anyway. (However, "quick" often goes on until the evening. :) ) I started near where I stopped in Norristown on my last trip to this area. Did a few Schuylkill River Trail caches and then I got a bunch more geocaches in Trooper and Eagleville.

There were a few unusual caches today. "Dirty Big Balls" is unusual for its placement. The cache is inside one of these big iron balls and I had to climb in to get it. "Circular Find Cache" is an unusual idea for a two-stage cache. The cache and writing instrument are in different locations and you have to find both to sign the log. I had no problem finding the cache but it took a lot longer to find the writing instrument because the coordinates were soft.

And finally, there was something non-geocache-related I came across that was rather strange. I saw an open letter to the Fairmount Park Demon posted on a utility pole along the Schuylkill River Trail. I did a bit of web searching on this and apparently, I'm not the first person to blog about it and copies of this letter have been found in a few other places in the Philadelphia area, and of course, in Fairmount Park itself.
