White Clay Creek and beyond
Jun. 16th, 2010 03:12 amCloudy and 77°F. It wasn't as hot as yesterday and it was a bit breezy. Since the weather was good, I felt like going for a few longer walks. First stop was in New Garden at the Laurel Wood Trail for an easy 1-mile round trip. Then I went to the Landenberg section of White Clay Creek Preserve. There were caches on both sides of Yeatman Station Road so I hiked up one side first. Then I went back to where I parked and hiked the other side. That was probably about 3 miles but I can't be sure since the part of the trail that followed the stream was very curvy. Biggest challenge of the day was "Groovy Rock". This cache is on the opposite side of the stream so I removed my socks and shoes, rolled up my pants, and waded across the stream. The water temperature was just fine. I only had to be careful not to step on sharp rocks in the stream bed.
After I was done with the White Clay Creek geocaches, I headed over to Kennett Square and Pocopson for a bunch of quick (relatively speaking. Not so much walking but "D R Cache #4" took some looking around to find.) geocaches to round out the day.
( The caches... )
