Took the day off so that I could have a full day of geocaching before going to the monthly geocaching event in the evening. This time, I went down the Turnpike side of the state and found caches in Jersey City and Bayonne. It was very slow going through that area because of traffic. "India Palace" was in an interesting area even if the cache itself wasn't too noteworthy. It was stashed in a dead tree planter next to an Indian grocery. After finding the cache, I went into the grocery because I was curious. I saw a broad selection of curries in there. I got their sale item of the day because I could use that.

In the evening, I went to Fuddruckers in New Brunswick for "Third Tuesday Beer and Burgers", the monthly event. This one was special because Boscobaby brought cake to celebrate my 10,000th find. It was vanilla cake with raspberry filling. I thought there was lemon in it too but that flavor was apparently from the flower. I also had nachos with chili to go with the cake.

I hadn't been geocaching in Brooklyn for over a year. I had a bit of Brooklyn-phobia, although after today, I'm not sure why. I imagined it was a congested place with narrow streets and a lot of traffic. That's true in some parts of Brooklyn, but I spent most of the day near the Belt Parkway and the shore area, which wasn't that bad. Anyway, since I hadn't been to Brooklyn in a while, there were many geocaches waiting to be found and I did quite a number of them before sunset.

Squeezed in one last geocache at night near Forest Park in Queens. Then I headed over to Johnny Rockets in Forest Hills to join up with the group celebrating [livejournal.com profile] freakylynx's birthday. Also there were Damian, [livejournal.com profile] jbadger, [livejournal.com profile] skyfirefox, [livejournal.com profile] cubbi, and several others. After dinner, we headed over to [livejournal.com profile] freakylynx's place nearby for cake and cider. Had to leave before midnight before my car turned into a pumpkin before I lost all ability to navigate my way out of Queens, but it was an enjoyable gathering and I had a good time.

Cold day at around 40 to 45°F, but not intolerable. The weather forecast called for rain but it ended up just being cloudy.

Early in the day, I spent too much time on some geocaches involving longer walks. Those were worth doing, but I only had 7 finds when the sun set. Fortunately, there were 4 geocaches in Northeast Philadelphia that were doable at night.

Stepped on something disgusting that might have been left by a feral cat (or perhaps a feral human being) near one of the cache sites. It was dark so I didn't see it. Good thing the next cache site was near a Target store. I went in and washed my shoes in the restroom. I should've learnt my lesson from the poop episode in Bristol, but noooo.... I keep going back to that region.

Dinner was at Old Country Buffet in the Oxford Valley area. I've actually never been to that restaurant for dinner. It was interesting. I didn't eat that much by my usual buffet standards but I did try everything that looked interesting and I had enough fried fish and seafood patties to be satisfied. I also tried putting soft-serve ice cream in my coffee. I got the idea from someone else at the restaurant. That was the most creamy coffee I ever had! Also, I heard someone say "The cake is a lie" at the dessert table. Uh oh... video game catchphrases are leaking out into the real world! :)
