Central Jersey

Sunny. 27-28°F. I checked the thermometer a few times during the day and it was around the same temperature every time so it was consistently cold. Geocaching is a different game when there's snow on the ground. If someone has been there before, you can follow his tracks. I did that at a few geocache sites and went directly to the cache each time. There was one cache site for which I didn't have coordinates (the second stage of a two-part cache for which I didn't find the first stage) but found the cache anyway just by following tracks. The deep freeze also helped me cross some streams and swamps easily. In any other season, the waterlogged areas would've been trouble but today, I only had to walk on the ice.

I saw a fox after finding "Splintered Livingston" in New Providence. It wasn't in the woods. Instead, it was taking a casual stroll along the residential road and then up someone's driveway. Lamentably, it didn't stand still long enough for me to take a picture.

The 14th cache of the day brought me to a site just across the road from Arby's in Manville. Since I had many coupons from the Arby's mailing list that were expiring tonight, I took the opportunity to use one of those on a sandwich. While at that Arby's, I figured out a route to go from there to Arby's in Watchung, picking up a geocache along the way. That seemed like a good plan. So I got dinner at the first Arby's and a side dish at the second. Two coupons, more food, extra geocache - great way to end the day.
