Lifestyles of the Hot and Bothered

Hot day today. Over 90°F in the afternoon.
Went to Park Ridge this afternoon to run a few errands. I haven't been to this town in a bit because it's actually better to go to Ramsey for most things, but the Lake St. closure forced my hand. Last month, Subway of Park Ridge sent a letter to my workplace offering a special deal to all the staff. Since I was going to Park Ridge anyway, I decided to take them up on the offer. I made a copy of the letter and brought it with me.
I actually had this restaurant on my blacklist because they have a history of not honoring coupons and they argue with customers, but since they made a special offer, I decided to give them another chance. Well, one minute after I stepped into the restaurant, I realized that I shouldn't have done that. I showed the lady the letter and her first questions were "What is this? Where did you get this from?" Huh? She sent the letter and she didn't know what she sent? Then she actually said that the letter is not a coupon. Of course, she hadn't read the letter before exclaiming that. Well, after a lot of back and forth, I straightened it out with her and got the deal stated in the letter. (I had a turkey and ham sub.)However, I don't think I'll go there a second time unless I run out of choices in that area.
How does a restaurant operate on the basis of argue with customers first and check things out later? Have they driven away any customers besides me? Worse yet, while she was giving me a hard time over the deal, other customers weren't getting served and may have overheard the exchange. That might not be good for business either. It's no wonder I go to Ramsey more often than Park Ridge. Quiznos and Subway on Main St. in that town are run by people I can actually talk to without getting grief.
In the evening, I noticed that the local A&P supermarket had ready-to-heat 12" pizzas on sale, so I picked up one for dinner. Put it in the oven for 15 minutes at 400°F and here's how it turned out. It's actually not bad and if the sale is still on next week, I think I'll get another one. As a bonus, there's enough left over for breakfast tomorrow.
