Freezing Friday Feeding Fries
Jan. 27th, 2007 12:23 am
Cold day today. It was a bit over 20°F in the afternoon and around 15°F the rest of the day.
Received Postcrossing postcards from Portugal and Turkey. I'm now at 51 cards sent and 45 received.
This afternoon, in the Popeye's parking area, I saw someone throwing fries out his truck window. After watching a little while, I saw that he was actually feeding the birds. But cajun fries?? Somehow, and this is from reading some wildlife websites, I have the impression that this is not suitable food for birds.
Installed Vim on Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition today. I discovered that GVim, compiled using Borland C++ 5.5, does not run under 64-bit Windows. Since that same code compiled using Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition works just fine, I'm not going to bother figuring out the problem with BC55 and WOW64. Then I noticed that Borland's new Turbo Explorer is now out as a free download. Okay well, when I have time for a 500MB download and a hefty install, I'll give it a go.
I also found out that Vim-contributor George Reilly has done the work of porting Vim to native Win64. I hope his changes make it into the codebase eventually.
Puttering around on Askville a bit too much lately. If you see an easy question with four answers on it already, answer it quickly. Why? Because the fifth answer will close the question, so you can get your points quickly. In addition, not only do you get one point for answering the question, but 4 more points for voting on the 4 answers that are already there. So that's 5 easy points! I think this question-and-answer site will degenerate eventually. I've been noticing more and more frivolous questions being posted there just to get points.
